CBS2 - Boise — A hyperactive pattern will continue across much of Idaho this week as computer models are showing one storm after another moving into the area through next weekend! Here's how things are shaping up based on what I'm seeing right now. Keep in mind, this is a very fluid scenario and this could change from one day to the next, but I do believe this is going to be a very interesting week especially for the western part of the state.
Look for partly cloudy skies on Monday with highs in the low 30's. The next storm will arrive on Tuesday. Temperatures will warm to near 40 degrees ahead of the front so we could see a mixture of rain and snow. However, the Wednesday storm appears to be a snow maker for the Treasure Valley. We'll likely see periods of snow on Thursday as well. We should be in between storms on Friday so I anticipate a mixture of sun & clouds. But, the models are showing another impressive front moving in on Saturday which should be all snow if it does what the models say it will do.
All of this is great news for our mountains and ski resorts because the local snowpack is running about 50% of normal. If we get the frequency of storms mentioned above, our levels could jump into the 70-80% of normal range. Based on what I'm seeing right now, the window of opportunity could stay open for a while. We'll keep you posted.
